FAQs
Can anyone learn to sing/ perform/ write songs?
Singing, performing and songwriting are like any other skills. While there are those who have a natural aptitude for it, anyone can improve from where they are currently at and that includes advanced singers.

Why should I have training if I can already sing?
Again, singing is like any other skill…it will atrophy or stagnate if it isn’t being challenged. Just like an athlete’s workout will be different from the average person’s, your workout would be a lot more challenging than average and may focus on sustainability so that your voice can handle gigs and tours.

Am I too young/ old for The Sing Gym?
You’re definitely not too old. Too young? Maybe.
We're a school for adults so we only take those between 14 and 18 with an audition. This isn't about ability but to prove to us that you are a dedicated student, not just here because your parent/s want you to come.
And while you're never too young to enjoy singing for fun, we wouldn't advise training until at least 10 or 11.

What makes your coaching different from others?
Firstly, the technique we teach is backed up by science. It focuses on how the vocal cords function rather than outdated methods such as over breathing or ‘singing from the diaphragm’ which is actually physically impossible. We also explore the mental health benefits of singing and performance and talk openly about psychological barriers. Last but definitely not least, we are all busy professional singers and musicians as well as being coaches.
